Vinh, a diligent and ambitious member of the Phan family, has a clear vision for his career: to emerge as a leading professional in the Vietnamese labour market. Achieving this goal requires both academic and professional excellence, and Vinh has planned and worked towards it at every milestone. As a gifted high school student in the impoverished province of central Vietnam, he has climbed the ladder to earn a bachelor's degree in diplomacy and foreign affairs and become a seasoned people advisor in Vietnam and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries.

Vinh's education is well-rounded, including a bachelor's degree in international relations, an academic diploma in international business and management strategy, and a master's degree in human resource counselling. He has chosen to focus his career on engaging and interacting with people, and he considers himself a proactive, open-minded, studious, passionate, ingenious, straightforward, versatile, and visionary career counsellor. His goal is to become an entrepreneur, a talent engagement strategist and a human resources psychologist, and he is eager to gain knowledge and new concepts. Vinh has a demonstrated history of working in the world of human capital at top companies such as Great Eastern, HR2B, The Adecco Group, and NB Asia, and he loves reading, researching, sharing, and inspiring others.

Although Vinh initially began his career in the diplomatic service and international affairs, he then made a career switch to become an actuarial consultant with Great Eastern Life, a member of the OCBC Group. As he gained more experience, he became aware that regardless of whether he was working as a business consultant, recruiter, storyteller, or diplomat, his diverse skillset and knowledge of the industry, history, people, and culture were essential.

Feeling overwhelmed by the definition of 'headhunter', Vinh eventually transitioned into a high-end executive search service with HR2B and The Adecco Group, a move that proved successful. He is now a key contact point at NB Asia for making exceptional placements at all levels of leadership, including the C-suite and senior management professionals, with functional and industry expertise in multiple market segments, including private equity, the middle-market private sector, holding companies, and MNCs. Vinh has accumulated over a decade of professional experience in international affairs, executive placement, human resources, people and culture, executive search, talent engagement, outsourced solutions, problem solving, candidate assessment, business development, customer service, bilingual translation, and administrative assistance. In summary, Vinh is an ambitious and dedicated career counsellor with a diverse background and a wealth of experience in the human capital field.

Vinh's hard work has resulted in successful placements for his clients, including Board, Executive, and Non-Executive positions such as CEO, Group CEO, Group CFO, Group Chief Identity Officer, Group Chief People Officer, Group Chief Legal Counsel, General Counsel, General Manager, Chief Agency Officer, Chief Distribution Officer, Chief Partnership Distribution Officer, Chief Risk Officer, CMO, CFO, COO, CCO, Chief Actuary, Chief Investment Officer, Chief Audit Executive, Chief Strategy Officer, Country Manager, Managing Director, Investment Manager, Fundraising Director, Vice President Banking Audit, Group Finance Director, Head of Internal Audit, Chief Business Innovation Officer, Director of Human Resources, Chief Growth Officer, Director of Information Technology, Cultural Affairs Assistant, Visa Assistant, Assistant to CEO, Finance Manager, General Accountant, Senior Payable Accountant, Chief Accountant, Accounting Manager, Finance Director, Office Manager, Marketing Director, Training Manager, Purchasing and Merchandising Director, National Sales Director, Head Actuary, Commercial Manager, Head of Actuarial Pricing and Product Development, Manager of Corporate Actuary, Investment Analyst, Fund Operations Manager, Head of Customer Service, Head of Agency Planning, Head of Risk Management, Bancassurance Director, Corporate Banking Relationship Manager, Head of Exchange, Director of Customer Experience, Director of Corporate Finance, Head of Investment Banking, Head of Bonds, Asset & Investment Manager, Head of Institutional Research, Head of Equities, and many more.

Additionally, Vinh has experience as a teaching assistant in a foreign-owned international school and as a simultaneous Vietnamese-English interpreter. As an interpreter, he has travelled to 45 countries to support trading organisations and to write talking points and interpret for managing directors and deputy general directors on business and leisure travels to countries such as the United States of America, the European Union, Switzerland, ASEAN member states, Hong Kong, Taiwan ROC, Japan, Australia, India, and others. These experiences have allowed Vinh to learn new cultures and broaden, deepen, and promote trade cooperation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Driven by his passion for executive recruitment and human resources, Vinh is committed to constantly self-educating and mastering skills in client-facing interactions, candidate care, interpersonal communication, mapping, matching, and recruitment. By doing so, he is able to meet the needs of his clients for key personnel recruitment at the managerial and high-end executive levels.

Great, thanks for joining The Phans!

HEADHUNTERS: Who Are They - What Do They Do - Are They For You?

Simply said, headhunters are recruiters, but not all recruiters are headhunters. Another term for the work that headhunters do is "executive search," as they literally look for candidates who are usually, but not always, executives. The executive searcher's client is always an organisation or a company, not an individual.

How to Answer Stupid Job Interview Questions

Our client Angela went on a job interview. "It's supposed to be a Marketing Manager job, but they sure talk a lot about graphic design in the job ad," said Angie. "And the job's been posted on the company website for six months." Source of Image: The Internet Angie went to the interview and sat in a lobby for half an hour. A nice woman came to get her and deposited her in a small interviewing room. A not-as-nice lady came in and started grilling Angie with questions, taking notes as Angie spoke (no eye contact - all business!). "Tell me about your experience with Adobe Illustrator." "Tell me how much you know about InDesign." "Tell me what you know about search engines." Wait a second, thought Angie. Something is off - this lady is just reading questions from a script. She doesn't know how the pieces fit together. She doesn't know anything about this job! Angie is a marketer, not a graphic designer. She kn...

What Is Compassion? Is Compassion The Same As Sympathy?

“Human nature is inherently good” and possesses a compassionate heart, but over time, due to selfishness and competition in life, this compassionate heart is gradually buried. However, the compassionate heart is not lost; it is still present, and it is up to an individual to overcome barriers to rediscover and warm their soul once again. What is compassion? Compassion is generally associated with terms such as “empathy”, “forgiveness”, “benevolence”, or possibly “sympathy”, et cetera, as they all share a similar concept. Empathy is a branch of the vast ocean of compassion, a faint shadow of the Buddha’s heart that exists within the human soul. Compassion is, in fact, goodness, and it serves as a mirror to ensure that one never falls into indifference. The concept of compassion refers to the ability to empathise with and understand the emotions others are experiencing in their souls. Conversely, directing sympathy towards someone can be detrimental to their soul. Compassion towards othe...

10 CV Phrases That Will Make Financial Services Recruiters Love You

Making a move into a role where you’re not a 100% fit is an increasingly hard sell in financial services these days. Investment banks are looking for proven commodities in-house that they can train in areas where existing employees’ skills may be lacking, while recruiters mandated by demanding clients are unlikely to take a gamble on putting forward anyone who doesn’t entirely fit the bill.
